I’ll refrain from commenting on/attempting to explain your family’s reactions (since I don’t actually know any of them, anyway), and instead, just say this:

    I CARE!!

I’m totally pulling for you to make it as a playwright. Even though we’ve never met, I find it so inspiring how you’ve found this awesome new writing path for yourself, and how very quickly (I mean really–you’ve only been at it for a couple of years!) you’re building a career for yourself. Whether it’s earning you money or not (which can’t be the standard by which writers’ success is measured), it sounds like you’re doing INCREDIBLY well, and I’m always so excited for you when you write about a new success or a new venture.

So, from a Person You Know Slightly Through The Internet, here’s a great big CONGRATULATIONS and a virtual toast, because both of those pieces of news are AWESOME.

I’m sorry that you’re not getting the support that you need at home right now, though.

heu mihi – I’ve really only been writing plays for, like, 15 months, I think. The file in which I wrote my first play was started on June 25, 2019. So really — pretty decent success in just over a year. It still feels kind of hollow. Maybe that has something to do with theaters still being closed for all intents and purposes.

But thank you for caring. I appreciate it.
