I’m reading along here, though other than feeling depressed and enraged on your behalf I often don’t have much… BUT I read this and I wanted to emphathize. We saw Fences when it came out in the theatres. In a theatre full of black people in St. Louis. It was an AMAZING experience to watch that movie there. I am so glad I saw it in person. So I know what you mean. Too bad we don’t live in the same city – I’d go to movies with you!
Yes! I took students to see Fences in a packed auditorium. It was wonderful to experience it with so many people. I think that my family is simply out of the habit of going to see these kinds of movies. I think it’s time to bring it back!
